80′s Commercials Vol. 11
A bunch of commercials that aired on local ABC affiliate KGO on October 29th, 1989. Commercials for: 1. Nabisco Shredded Wheat (After this and the commercial in Vol. 1, I'm convinced the Nabisco ad people were on acid throughout the 80's) 2. Wendy's (With Dave Thomas! RIP Big Guy!) 3. Promo for "Who's The Boss" (:In Tony Danza voice: "Angela!") and "The Wonder Years" (Kind of a strange joke to use for a commercial) 4. Wrigley's Gum (Share a little piece of America!) 5. Subaru Legacy (Love the cartoon sound effects) 6. Anti-Drug PSA (I love the veiled suggestion that marijuana causes permanent brain damage) 7. Promo for "The Real Ghostbusters Halloween Special" (It's gonna be fun, fun FUN!) 8. Promo for "Doogie Howser MD" and "Anything But Love" (Richard Lewis had a sitcom? With Jamie Lee Curtis?) 9. Bounty Candy Bar (The dark chocolate commercial gets an African-American model, naturally) 10. Luvs Diapers 11. Little Lost and Founds (Who the hell wants an orphaned stuffed animal that cries constantly? Is this the start of the Emo fad?) 12. Toys "R" Us (Awesome!) 13. Promo for "The Final Days" (Nixon TV movie FTW!) 14. Toys "R" Us (Is it my imagination or are a few of the kids here British or Semi-Canadian?) 15. Downy Fabric Softener 16. Hasbro Toys/Downy "Night Before Christmas" sweepstakes 17. "Bambi" on Videocassette (With $3 back with the purchase of Crest Toothpaste!) 18. Matchbox Superfast (Which will win, Slicks or Knobbies?!?) 19. Promo for "Full House" and "Family ...

HOLD THE BUS!!!!! off key at 5:29
ALERT!! ALERT!! DOLLY PARTON ON THE LEFT AT 1:02!!!!!!
The only time you use an apostrophe after the last number is if you’re talking about that year. If you’re talking about a range of years within that decade, the apostrophe goes BEFORE the last two digits. (ex. “the 1980′s film festival” refers to a film festival in the year 1980). But if you’re talking about film festivals from 1980 to 1989, then you would say ’80s film festival to include all of those years. Unless all these commercials came out in 1980, this is incorrect.
these aired the day my brother was born, awesome! lol.
8:43 Tony Jay?
Luvs Diapers: “Should I have changed you before you fell asleep? Nah, these pink things don’t seem to leak” Good campaign for baby hygiene. Don’t change them until the diaper overflows!
@acetrain81 yes, it was king kong bundy in the commerical
Wow, I don’t think you can but ANYTHING on videocassette anymore. It’s all either DVDs or digital downloads.
I don’t even wanna go talk about that Mita commercial, lol.
I hate that commercials don’t have fun jingles anymore. Commercials are too darn serious nowadays…they were always so much fun back in the day!
Don’t forget, you’ll also get to experience death when you watch “Bambi”.
There’s a Chuck E. Cheese around 30 miles from where I live but I don’t think we ever went there. I’ve never seen a Showbiz Pizza in the state of California.
Did you have a Showbiz Pizza Place or Chuck E Cheese in your town in the 80′s.
Soooo….bad drivers buy volvo?
I agree with you on those “Little Lost and Found” toys. I mean, you get a critter that looks absolutely miserable no matter what you do for it. We’re having some fun now!!
@vivien44 I must be odd. I loved shredded wheat when I was a kid
Oooo Full House commercial!
sawdust aaaahahahaha!
I like the lUvs Deluxe diaper commercial. Does anyone have the one where the boy says at the end “I like that diaper?” Who is the woman in that diaper commercial? If you have any more let me know please.
I know! It looked like frosted nummy goodness, but it tasted like dry, nasty….sawdust! Yeah, thats what I was looking for!
oh goddddd shredded wheat always looked so good in the commercials and when i got suckered into buying it, i was painfully disappointed! it was horrible! lol
@barber747
They are available everywhere, dude! Even up here in Canada!
Haha So Cheesy
These were recorded exactly 20 years ago.
In addition to those two Nabisco Shredded Wheat commercials from the ’80s, there’s another crazy one where everybody falls through the floor after finding out their cereals have salt, fat, sugar, etc. in them. Only the Shredded Wheat guy remains… lol
