@Degenskonto you should really look into a neoprene pair if it is too cold. or a kangaroo leather pair.. they also have “performance” toe socks that you can wear with them

4 Degenskonto { 09.03.10 at 7:44 pm }

@Zipo214 Yeah in the end I bought a pair last year. They really are awesome, they really are everything they say they are. But since the climate here doesnt approve of my using the shoes everyday I cant… :(

@kate424 my friend dont use a partner website that sells them cheeper.. the chances is its not a partner website….u should be checking vibramfivefingers

@tentonbrick your body didnt develop flippers for running jumping playing swinging swimming and walking… if it did you wouldnt walk with an arch in you foot or have a ball for ballance. eh you might have a tail tho?. your toes and arch and heal are supposed to work together to perform a motion which provides positve feedback to strengthen your body. why do you have toes. sorry they are not a genetic left over. from apes or a mismatch from god . they are there for a reason. not to be inshoes

@Degenskonto they are worth every credit.. my friend… your knees and feet will thank you. it will be the last pair of shoes you will ever own. just cuz they are so wonderful. infact if you bought a good pair you probably would not wear anything else

8 Zipo214 { 09.03.10 at 9:35 pm }

@vivitar45 no they are not a hundred bucks and they are not pool shoes i bet you dont even run.. and i bet if you do your kneew will give out in ten years … i am an runner for many years… these shoes saved my knees. plus i bet you walk heel to toe .. especially when you run… buhahaha right. did you know your body taught you to walk like that cuz you blinded the receptors in your feet

you should keep your center of gravity low, put the rail below the centerline of your feet, and relax. that’s the way I do balance (equilibre)

Seriously cool shoes but you cant balance worth a shit dont give up your day job.

@billabongxx9 I don’t think they will Vibram souls are very tough and very light… Any respectable Army boot will have a vibram sould and mine lasted the tough conditions and loads we carried in Iraq. After a straight year of use there was little to no wear on them.

I really want a pair :( – Vibram has loads of products on its partner website… but half of them that are advertised are not in stock – GOOD ONE.

@tentonbrick i practice parkour too, and while i agree and acknowledge that there are many traceurs who balance with trainers, i believe that it is way easier to balance barefoot or in VFFs. In fact, many members of the group I belong to (Sacpk and SFPK, an APK affiliate) train and run barefoot. I have balanced on rails and other stuff in trainers, VFFs and barefoot, and it is much easier to be able to grip the rail with your toes and to mold a bare sole over a rail, rather than stiff rubber.

i want to buy a pair for running and im looking at the sprints but i dont know because around where i live theres alot of garvel and stuff and im afraid itll feel like i always have rocks in my shoes. also theres alot of broken glass too. people put here are terriable about that. but will they get cut open easily??

15 Karateckie { 09.04.10 at 12:18 am }

@peterjbond The only difference being: humans weren’t evolved to play football. Our feet and bodies were however evolved to run.

16 barefootted { 09.04.10 at 12:38 am }

@tentonbrick not closed minded at all. I just don’t see how you do yourself any good in balance sports by adding trainers to the picture. They are less optimal then a barefoot for balance. I mean, imagine gymnasts on a balance beam wearing trainers…absurd, no?

Of course young folks can do it. It is just not optimal. I would imagine that the best traceurs are not wearing big padded, high-heel trainers. Some of the best I have seen train barefoot.

17 tentonbrick { 09.04.10 at 12:58 am }

are you serious? I practice parkour, there are hundreds upon hundreds of videos showing (even teenagers) balancing on all sorts of things MUCH better than you did, in trainers.. your closed mindedness astonishes me.

18 barefootted { 09.04.10 at 1:10 am }

@tentonbrick hahahhahahahaha.

Please send a video confirmation.

It makes no sense to do balance sports in typical high-heeled running shoes…totally disconnecting you from the incredible proprioceptive feedback your feet offer when closest to bare (or better, bare).

Hahahahahaha.

19 barefootted { 09.04.10 at 1:51 am }

So, you have tested both yourself and speak from experience, right?

20 vivitar45 { 09.04.10 at 2:28 am }

these things are like 100 bucks jsut get a paire or pools shoes there like 5 bucks there just as good but not as fancy with the toes on them thats all

21 peterjbond { 09.04.10 at 2:38 am }

Remember leather football helmets? Those gave players a FAR higher range of sight and mimicked the natural way our heads move. Of course, there were infinitely more concussions.
What I meant by our “evolving” was not meant in the past 30 years, since running shoes were invented. I meant *mentally* and scientifically evolving. Like “fire burn!” evolution.

22 powderski11 { 09.04.10 at 3:11 am }

in your opinion, we have evolved in the 30 something years since running shoes came about? evolution takes millions of years my friend.
you could always just watch out for rocks…its not like you have to run with closed eyes

23 barefootted { 09.04.10 at 3:51 am }

@xrebelkittenx hate to say, but that is a lame argument. I have been running barefoot for years before I met the Raramuri and wearing FiveFingers.

Come on down off your high horse please. No need to be judgmental, especially if you’ve got the facts wrong. A big thank you would be more appropriate in my opinion, but I could be biased. :-)

24 xrebelkittenx { 09.04.10 at 3:51 am }

C’mon ted… what happened to the raramuri way? Where’s your huaraches? Man, i hate to say this but the influence and benefits you got from the raramuris now you’re using to advertise a product for profit. Shame, shame.

25 peterjbond { 09.04.10 at 4:32 am }

No, my neutral running shoes cannot do that! Excellent point. Although, can your “shoes” not absorb the accidental impact of a rock to a toe on a 6 minute/mile downhill?

We have evolved for a reason, in my opinion.
